Danforth

Also known as Greektown! If your looking for a neighbourhood with restaurants and culture, this is it! In fact Greektown on the Danforth boasts one of the highest concentrations of restaurants per kilometre in the world. Home to the famous Taste of The Danforth Festival where for 2 days the street shuts down and you can find live music, games and food vendors everywhere. The area was one of the major settlement areas of Greek immigrants to Toronto after World War I, but thats not to say that there aren't many other cultures who have made this neighbourhood their home as well. Homes here are a mix of two storey brick detached and semi-detached and most were constructed between 1910 and the 1940s. Most of the commercial area is dedicated to Bloor St where, in the summertime, you will find many outdoor patios, flowers outside for sale from local vendors and markets offering fresh produce. Like many micro market neighbourhoods in Toronto, Danforth has gone through some gentrification over the last number of years. The area has become very popular with young families who want to blend the benefits of City life, good schools & lots to do on weekends. There are numerous parks, trails (on the DVP) and public pools to keep everyone busy on the weekends.

TRANSPORTATION

GreekTown is located on Danforth Avenue, one of the major arteries running east and west through Toronto. The DVP as a major highway is allows for easy access to the North and South into the downtown core and out of the city. The Bloor-Danforth Subway line and can also be accessed from three subway stations: Chester, Pape or Donlands.
